Elbert County and the county Historical Society were eager to save the historic Rock Gym, originally a World War II armory and subsequently used as a community event center and gymnasium. Marketek conducted a market feasibility analysis for the gym’s adaptive reuse as a conference center and museum. With a Department of Transportation $500,000 grant, the Rock Gym opened in 2013. Elbert County continues to oversee the revitalization of the building and its development as a conference center and museum.

Macleay Christian Retreat

Salem, Oregon

In 2014, The Macleay Christian Retreat in Salem, Oregon asked Marketek to provide an assessment of market support for growing the Retreat’s customer base for a small meeting/event and conference center. Marketek’s recommendations were based on a financial analysis and the need for market positioning for the Retreat. To this end, a survey of the meeting and conference center market in Oregon was provided.
