Residential Growth Analysis

Town of Highlands, North Carolina

In an effort to address issues surrounding growth management, the Town of Highlands, North Carolina contracted with Marketek to conduct a study to estimate and characterize population growth through the year 2025 within the corporate limits of the Town of Highlands and Highlands Township.

As part of this assignment, Marketek completed an inventory of land available for residential development in the Town of Highlands and the Highlands Township. Marketek developed a set of measures characterizing land as developed, vacant, undevelopable, redevelopable and subdividable. This information was also provided in accompanying maps to Illustrate opportunities for growth. The population growth estimates and the “holding capacity” of the geographic study area to accommodate this growth are intended to serve as a platform for future land use and infrastructure planning.
